LG Portable Air Conditioner with Remote

Sometimes it is not always easy for a central air unit to keep things cool enough inside of the home or office, especially in bedrooms which may be at the end of the duct work’s line or rooms that get exposed to full sun throughout the hottest part of the day. It is also likely in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. LG has the solution according to some people, but you have to wonder if their portable air conditioners can truly keep up. Features of the LG LP0817WSR Portable AC Unit

This unit is ideal for smaller sized rooms. It can easily cool a bedroom that is approximately 200 sq. ft. or less. This makes it perfect for bedrooms and kitchens.
The LG LP0817WSR offers 8,000 BTU performance wise and pushes out air at 250 CFM. This is very powerful and it uses R410A refrigerant to ensure it is safe to be around. It is also quiet according to some, with a dBA level of 53 on the lowest fan/cooling settings.
This unit works well as a dehumidifier. It can remove up to 1.8 pints of moisture from the air per hour.

It has two fan speeds and two cooling speeds to ensure that you do not have to worry about hot spots within the room. The air flows out the top, inclined air discharge and the louvers are equipped with auto swing. This further ensures that the entire room will be kept free of heat as soon as you turn it on.
LG means that it is a solid product, but this is further proven by the ease of use that it provides owners with. It has a fully functional LCD remote and an LED display panel on the machine. It is also fully programmable and offers a 24-hour on/off timer. The LED display is located on the top of the unit, which for some people may make it harder to set up using the remote.

Owner Reviews

This LG portable air conditioner holds the title of bestseller. It has a rating of 3.7-stars. There are a lot of people who say that it cools very quickly and that it is not loud. However, they do point out that it does make noise since one of the major complaints is the noise that it produces. Most people do not have an issue with it. There are also people who want to remind others that it is a small AC. If you try to use it to cool your entire home, it will not be effective. There are people who run it continuously in their homes and have never had to drain the tray, even when the temps are high. It is there mostly for protection for your floors. Most people say the hardest part about installing it is the hose. They recommend that you put it where you need it and then attach the hose since moving the unit around may disconnect the hose after you have it twisted into place. Most all owners are also very happy with the price and feel it is a good value.

Final Thoughts

Overall, we like the LG standing air conditioner. It seems to work great for the purpose that it is intended for; small rooms that need cooling off. We feel that it is no louder than window units that we have all heard running in the past. We enjoy that it has an easy to read LED panel and a remote control which makes programming it easier for anyone who wants it to cool off certain rooms before they get home. The fact that it comes with a drain pan is worrisome, but since most people have used it for several days at a time and never had to empty it; we do not think that it is a major issue. The hose coming undone and being tricky to put into place is a minor issue that we feel can be dealt with. If all you need to do is set it up where you hope to run it; it is an easy fix.
